Planet suggestions for dessert?

I'm looking plant some easy to care for plants in my backyard and I'm looking for advice and suggestions. I have a low brick planter that is the full length of my back wall - and which follows another side of the wall as well. The wall gets sun from morning till late afternoon, and I live in the dessert so its dry (though there are sprinklers) and hot here (around 100 F in the dead of summer). When I moved in the backyard had a variety of plants in the planter (honeysuckle, those big bushes w/ red berries, a mini-rose bush, ETC) but over the years they have passed away. I dont spend alot of time out there, but it looks horrible and I would like to spend some time making it nice. Anyone have any suggestions for plants that are hearty, easy to card for and that would grow well here? I was thinking perhaps some more honeysuckle and maybe a wisteria tree. I would like the wall to be covered in green. Thank you for any advice/suggestions you have!

Planet suggestions for dessert?
lantana, sage, aloe vera, sago palm, cape honeysuckle,rosemary,bougainvillea,roses... type of cacti.there are a lot more you can go to your local nursery and see what else they have in the full sun selection.
Reply:In areas that get direct sun, plant sage, oleander (note: poisonous to some animals), hummingbird mint (attracts hummingbirds, bees and pollinating insects, and smells like mint), ornamental grasses ranging from fescue (very small, fine blades) to pampas (gets as tall as a person, looks like those french fry monsters from McDonald's). Also rock rose does well.

Culinary herbs that do well in this environment: culinary sage, rosemary, basil, thyme.

In areas that get some sun and some shade: I have planted rock rose, Mexican hat, coneflower, and some ornamental grasses.

Water thoroughly for the first few days, then watch them to make sure they're doing OK. After that you can leave them alone, as they don't need excessive watering. The first year you may need to weed a bit, but as the plants begin to thrive, it will be less of an issue.

FWIW, I live in Dallas and we get reasonably hot weather with long dry spells... but it's not the desert.

Hope this helps.

Need help finding shade loving plants for my new garden...?

I live in zone 8b. My small garden is on the northfacing side of my house, and gets almost no sun. I had this vision of blooming flowers with Wisteria climbing a trellis, but I guess that won't happen.

I would still like some flowers, and maybe even a flowering vine if anyone knows of any that will survive in the full shade... If not, any pretty greenery is good enough for me :)

This will be my first garden, so I kind of need some hardy perennials that will forgive my mistakes. Thank you.

Need help finding shade loving plants for my new garden...?
Here is a list of flowers for a shade garden:

http://www.eastendcommunity.com/plants/s...

Annuals will be perennials in your warm climate.
Reply:Hostas, hostas, hostas.

I also grow Huechera ( coral bells ) on the North side of my house. Some varieties have smaller blooms on stalks, but really it's their foliage that is attractive. They come in all shades of colour and can be a nice addition to a shady spot. Especially the lighter coloured foliage - try the lighter rust coloured varieties...
Reply:im a greenhouse manager these are some flowering plants that you can plant:

fuscias ( they are suitable for shade )

hosta

oxalis
Reply:Hostas bloom very decoratively and grow well in shade. Also astilbes ( beautiful colors)

Careful: hostas are quite addictive. There are thousands of varieties.

Desperate Housewives: Welcome to Kanagawa??

What exactly was Katherine's betrayal?

some people say that she killed her daughter and then adopted the new girl, but then remember at the beginning of the season, when julie and dylan were talking, she said that she remembers her past and it was weird, like she would have nightmares of like sexual abuse or w/e. so was it that her mother played a part in the abuse and blamed in on her ex? was that her betrayal, or was it something else?

also, who is Mary Alice? like i know that she is the narrator, but does she live on wisteria lane? is she one of the characters? what is her story?

Desperate Housewives: Welcome to Kanagawa??
we don't know what Katherine's story is yet. We have gotten various clues throughout the season, but we won't find out until the season finale, as is customary for the seasons. (Welcome to Kanagawa was the last episode filmed before the writers strike commenced, it is not the season finale)

Mary Alice was a woman who lived on Wisteria Lane, and killed herself in the pilot episode. She narrarates the story while looking down at her old friends from heaven. The mystery of why she killed herself carried through the first season and was resolved in the season finale of season 1. I won't say what it is here in case that ruins it for someone, but you are welcome to message me and I will tell you what happened. :)
Reply:This is all coming from my wife.

Mary Alice used to live on Wisteria Lane but killed herself in the pilot episode. She's narrating from the great beyond. She was living a lie and couldnt take it any longer.

Katherines betrayal is not quite clear to my wife. Sorry.

Yes they work, and they have started to sell their own mineral line also. It is worth your dollar! I use some of their eyeshadows and oil blotting sheets. Their plumping lipgloss is awesome in baby pink. It doesn't really plump but it has a nice minty scent and good shimmer and shine. And their brushes are pretty good quality. You should definately try it! The only thing I was dissatisfied with, was the cover stick foundation. It was too creamy and oily, and also too orangey.

Hope this helps!!!
Reply:Yeah. I found it to be no better than the cheap drugstore brands. So I wouldn't recommend it.

Desperate Housewives fans...here's a question I'd love to know an answer to???

Why'd Katherine move back here to the exact same house Dylan was killed in, knowing crazy Wayne would find them(Duh, since he's a cop) if he miraculously never found them elsewhere? And I know they had to leave CHICAGO cuz that woman was stalking Adam @ his Dr. office, but why back to WISTERIA LN. with what previously happened???

Desperate Housewives fans...here's a question I'd love to know an answer to???
well supposidly the aunt was in a nursing home and dying so Katherine took her back in and moved in to the same house apparently the aunt still owned the house . she was not too sure that wayne would find them . well if you remember she kept that room closed off for a long time even after the aunt died . then she and adam opened it up and found that gap in the wood floor .
Reply:Maybe the trouble her husband got in at the hospital made them broke and that place was hers from her aunt plus didn't she come back to to take care of her aunt.too........
Reply:I do believe that Katharine and Dylan came back to take care of her Aunt, it was her house in the first place...so that would explain part of the why...

As for Wayne and *(Duh, since he's a cop)* true....but....Katharine believed that it was safe to move back to Wisteria Lane....enough time had passed and I'm sure she was hoping that the whole thing with Wayne was over. Thats what happens....the abusee wants so desperately for things to be over, the abuse to stop, that they convince themselves that it is over....its safe....enough time has passed.....he (or she) has changed....safe...I'm safe...we're safe...That is the perspective Mark Cherry wrote it from, at least the way I took it....Katharine came back a b*tch on wheels, not taking any crap from anyone, based on what she had gone through with Wayne in the past.....and losing the real Dylan.....those kind of things change a person and she felt she was strong enough to handle things now.....I think you're being too hard on Mr. Cherry as I think DH is one of the best dramas on TV anymore....sure there are twists and turns and things that might leave some feeling a little dismayed about things...but thats, in essence...what drama really means...
Reply:I take it you watch this show other wise you would not be asking this question..

so why do you watch it ??if you think Mr Cherry is getting lame with the story lines..

I personally watch this show to get away from today's world for an hour it has the laughs %26amp; fun I don;t play detective throught out the show I couldn;t care less why katherine moved back but him being a cop he never found her any where else so he is not that good with all his connections....

I am guessing she wanted to make a clean slate %26amp; moved back hoping it would happen %26amp; guess what it did she killed her abusive husband.. she went through hell %26amp; back..

I will continue to watch this show through bad %26amp; good %26amp; I will admit there have been some bad shows...but hey its still fun right......

What yu think?

By FRAZIER MOORE, AP Television Writer

NEW YORK - The writers strike and all those extra reruns have freed up time for me to do things other than watch TV.

Like think about TV.

For instance, as a memory exercise, I've spent time mentally sorting out the rival "Sex and the City" offshoots premiering in the next few weeks: "Cashmere Mafia" starring Lucy Liu on ABC, and "Lipstick Jungle" starring Brooke Shields on NBC. Lipstick. Cashmere. Jungle. Mafia. Maybe actually seeing both shows will help me keep everything straight. Maybe not.

But more than thinking ahead, I've been looking back at this fall season, putting some thought to compiling a list of all the new shows I'm crazy about.

I couldn't think of any.

So I narrowed it down to a new show that has gotten viewers talking; a here's-the-show-all-the-networks-will-be... kind of hit.

I drew another blank.

Has there ever been a season with less impact? There weren't even any truly horrible new shows. Not even CBS' "Viva Laughlin," the musical-and-mystery melange that wasn't so bad, just fatally offbeat. It was canceled after two airings.

"Viva" holds the distinction of being not just the first, but so far the only new scripted series to officially get the ax. By now in any typical season, there would be some serious attrition going on.

But there's nothing typical about this season, which started slow and then, with the arrival of the November sweep — the networks' first big faceoff of the season — was upstaged by the writers strike. Late-night talk shows immediately began airing repeats, and viewers were counting off the few remaining new episodes of prime-time series just when they should have been kicking into high gear.

Now, in its sixth week, the strike seems more entrenched than ever. Meanwhile, networks have announced their retooled midseason schedules, a slurry of scripted series that were already in the can, plus lots of unscripted reality fare.

But I'm not ready to focus on the future (even "Cashmere" this and "Lipstick" that, which for all I know could both be wonderful shows). I'm still mourning the premature passing of a season that never was.

The Fall 2007 season will be remembered not for NBC's expected hit "Bionic Woman," which turned out to be a shrinking violet in the ratings. Despite those eye-popping visuals on ABC's "Pushing Daisies," the season's emblematic images have come from somewhere else: the picket lines, where writers, for once, are getting the spotlight.

Further shaking things up, the strike has triggered speculation about its long-term effect on the TV medium. Increased repeats, fewer episodes shot for certain series, network lineups in apparent chaos — will all these potential annoyances this season chase viewers from network TV, or from TV altogether, never to return? Maybe so, some experts predict. Of course not, say others.

Have the networks already lost their mojo? Why were their new fall shows greeted with such viewer indifference? Why are their most-watched shows mostly older series like "CSI" (in its 8th season), "NCIS" (5th), "Two and a Half Men" (5th), "House" (4th) and "Desperate Housewives" (4th)?

Nearly 21 million viewers watched the recent "Desperate Housewives" when a tornado slammed Wisteria Lane. It captured the spirit of the real upheaval in the TV industry.

Writers are demanding a fair share of revenue from scripts they write that end up on the Web and other new media. Studios and networks are countering these new digital platforms aren't demonstrated earners yet, so there's no money to share.

Forgive me, a mere viewer, if I'm getting impatient. But with time on my hands, I find myself playing variations of "what if."

I wonder what zany situations and sly banter would have been written for "30 Rock" if not for this strike dragging on? What lacerating satire would otherwise have nourished the presidential race, courtesy of "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" and "The Colbert Report"? What breathless, world-saving mission would have been afflicting Jack Bauer on "24" (postponed all the way until next season)?

If the strike continues for another couple of months, I wonder what pilot scripts won't get written, or produced, or picked up for series next fall?

I'll bet the writers are thinking about all that, too. They're thinking about the programs scheduled instead in the weeks to come — "reality" shows purportedly without writers (at least, not from the rolls of the Writers Guild of America). And they're thinking, what if those series win the viewers' loyalty, at the expense of scripted shows that will never see the light of day?

I don't mean to be an alarmist. But I'm not so happy about the season just ahead. In fact, I'm even less happy with the fall season that was over before it started.

What yu think?
I think I'm too impatient to read all of that. Ha

Which varieties can of Gourami fish can be put together?

I have a 55 gal tank with Wisteria, Sword, Dwarf Acous, and Water sprite plants in my tank and they are established. I want as many Gouramis and varieties as possible. How many can I have and not have a problem(how many of each variety). Except for the Sword plants all planted area are faily thick and stretch the length of the tank. Any help would be appreciated. Also if anyones knows of a good place to get female gouramis that information would be a bonus. Can someone also tell me how to sex determine gouramis, that information would also be useful?

Which varieties can of Gourami fish can be put together?
Sexing gouramis is fairly easy when you see them by the tanks full. At least the fish commonly sold as gourami, which is all I will get into here as other anabantoids can get trickier to keep not to mention harder to find. The males have longer and more pointed dorsal fins while the females are plumper . As for what kinds go together, all the blues, golds and the like are one species, so obviously they all go together well. Dwarf, powder blues, sunsets and the like are similar in size to each other and can cohabitate rather well. Thick-lipped and giant or banded fit well with this group too. The snakeskin gourami and kissing gourami get a bit large for this group in my opinion as does of course the true gourami, which is far too large for a 55 gallon anyway. Pearl gouramis fit right in with all of the above as would moonlights although they can get a bit large for a 55 and have room for anything else. Croaking gouramis and sparkling gouramis are too small and docile to fit in with the others. Chocolate gourami are far to sensitive to even thing about in this type of tank.

I would stick with adding pairs to the tank and as to how many, that depends on if you want mostly the larger types or the smaller types. But as they are anabantoids you can easily stretch that tank space a bit. I would say a pair of each Dwarf, powder blues, sunsets, blues, golds and pearls would make a nice display and not over tax the tank.

It could be done with either Colisa sp. or Tricogaster sp. and that would be the best mix in my opinion. In either group stick with a pair of each. With this grouping you could add in either moonlights or snakeskins without a problem, but probably not both.

Obviously I have left out many anabantoids, but those are not commonly referred to as gourami.
Reply:DId you even check out the website I attached? I have 6 different kinds of gouramis in my tank. If you have questions feel free to email. Report It

Reply:guppy
Reply:Just watch out for bettas(closely related) they will likely be attacked by other gouramis...
Reply:First there are lots of different types of gouramis, and most of them are very territorial. If you want a bunch i recommend, pearl, blue, gold, moonlight, possibly dwarf, paradise fish, etc. Stay away from african gouramis if you can, they tend to be much nastier and Ctenopoma are by far the worst as they need really specific water conditions in some cases and are downright nasty

the round fin trick does not work for most gouramis species, so if you get anything rare you will have to vent them or wait until they get into spawning colors. i would check out the Aqualog book on labrynth fish you wont be dissapointed!.
Reply:u can put it in with any semi-aggressive type of fish because they are a semi-aggressive type so u can put them in with sharks, angel fish, any other gourami fish just about any type of fish
Reply:You can put any kind of gouramis together.. Females have a round fin whereas males have a pointed fin. I dont recommend buying fish at walmart, petco, petsmart or petland. Go to a local pet store that is privately owned.. They will order femlaes for you if they don't have any but they should have a large varitey of gouramis.

HELP!! wisteria climbing up near gas flue!!??

we have wisteria plant 3/4 years old!! it just about reaches up to boys bedroom now and last night i noticed that it was laying by side of gas flue!!

I went upstairs in bedroom and grabbed it and cut it back!!

It is fine now but I know they grow like crazy (summer)

Will it be fine leaving it here and just keep cutting it back or do you think it is risky??

thanks

:-))

HELP!! wisteria climbing up near gas flue!!??
Since your Wisteria is growing towards the gas flue it is essential you trim it back... it is also the very practice that will make it the most beautiful it can be.

WISTERIA SHOULD BE CUT BACK!!! Many folks don't understand this- but agressive prunning of Wisteria is the only way to get it to bloom. (This is why you hardly ever see it blooming)...

Some points of information regard Wisteria as a weekly pruner... to be heavilly trimmed bi-weekly in the summer. (Some even suggest slicing into the soil 8 to 12 inches in a complete circle around the plant as to prune the roots. Otherwise the plant "feels no need to bloom". You won't hurt the plant--- I guarantee it!
Reply:Yes leave it, just cut it back when you see it starting to grow over the vet.
Reply:It will be fine - the new tendrills need cutting back each year at the end of summer to about 3-4 inches... this should then generate a profusion of flowers for the following year.

just keep cutting back any growth that gets invasive.
Reply:You are fine, as long as you keep trimming it.. A gas flue is actually two pipes, one inside the other. The inside pipe is the hot one coming from your gas appliance. The outer (cool) pipe is the one attached to your roof (or wall, wherever it is). There is an air gap between the two for heat insulation and safety. So, as long as you don't block the end of the pipe where hot air comes out, you are fine. That being said, you don't really want to keep leaning out the window and trimming so I suggest you train the wisteria to grow on a trellis that is routed somewhere else, like an arch over a window...but, not towards the flue. Then, you don't have to remember trimming it.
Reply:It is always risky to have anything potentionally blocking a gas flue. As long as you make absolutely sure that it is always clear there wouldn't be a problem, however, it is only human nature to forget.

My advice would be to cut the wisteria back hard away from the flue and like someone else said "train it away from the flue". But always keep a regular check on it.
Reply:what lisa means is use small rope and a stick...wrap the long limbs on the stick and tie them down. Dont tie them hard tho. angle the plant how you would like it and continue on....rinse and repeat.
Reply:not sure, however, you can train it/bend it/tie it to grow in another direction.
Reply:no harm will come to the wisteria but for safety you make sure that nothing blocks the flue this is vital for you and any body living with you co2 kills

Reply:Move out, move on and start your own life I guess.

Your parents are adults and if they want to spend their lives as doormats you can be the little doormat or stand up and make your own way.
Reply:FInd somewhere else to live where no one knows you and you can make your own impressions. The image you and your family have will probably last through generations, whether they and you deserve it or not. If your parents can't leave, you still probably can sooner or later. Just live with it until you can get out and make your own life and don't listen to what people say.
Reply:No, now it's up to you to be the example! My Mom's a pushover and she's had to learn from me how not to be.
Reply:It seems like you are a lot like your parents to some extent and you don't realize it. So its tough their, what do you do? You want to run from it and leave everything and everybody involved in that behind. I have to be blunt and honest and tell you that if you do this you will set yourself up to repeat what they taught you. Yes, you recoginze its not the right way to live but you are having a hard time trying to redefine your life. I suggest that you set your personal bounderies and force others to live within them, or suffer the consequences. At the family gathering or where ever, if you are present then you stand up for your own self. If they want to know where you were- tell them truth. Not in a snobby way , but in a way that says I am who I am. Period. Now as far as your bf it depends on how he reacted to the info your cousin gave him. If he questioned you about it, and left it at that kool. But if he passed judgement and treated you differently about it. Then drop him
Reply:I really don't know except Do Not stoop to their level and Stand up to them! If you hear them talking about you or your parents give them an ear full of how you will not take it.Good Luck %26amp; God Bless You!
Reply:You lost me. This makes no sense. What is your question?
Reply:Take the target off your back. Let it be known you are your own person and that you wont be trampled, blackmailed or taken advantage of. Stand up for yourself and tell the people who try to go to hell. If they come to you for money either say no or get it in writing that they borrowed it and have it written when you expect to be paid back. Then when they dont, go after them in small claims court. Demand the respect you are entitled to and you shall get it. Better yet, divorce yourself from family and go out on your own

I have a 29 gallon tank with a ph of 8.6 and my water has a pH of 7.4?

The tank is new and not yet cycled.I have 11 argentine swords 1 wisteria and two pieces of driftwood. No rocks except the substrate is pea gravel everything is meant for aquariums and bought.I want to keep tetras platies zebra danios and corycats.I want to know if the ph in my tank is safe for them the water is soft though but not acidic.I dont care about them spawning I just want them to live. How do I lower the pH if they can't live in it.the test kit could messed up but the other readings are accurate.I dont know if it could be the aquarium plant food either. What do I do!!!!!

I have a 29 gallon tank with a ph of 8.6 and my water has a pH of 7.4?
8.6 is extremely high... considerably higher than what even African Cichlids would need (in most cases)... If everything in your tank (except the driftwood, which produces tannins that LOWER the pH) is inert, I would guess your test kit is off... The water's pH won't just magically rise. However, you might try putting the tap water in a large bucket with an air stone overnight, then testing it. Since the water is under pressure in the pipes, gas dissolves into it more easily, and gasses dissolved in water are acidic (carbon dioxide forms carbonic acid, nitrogen gas forms hyponitrous acid, etc.) and may be affecting the readings. Allowing it to outgas overnight will give you a more correct pH.

EDIT: Chemicals, including pH 7, cause fluctuations as soon as they are "used up". Whether this takes a few hours, or a few days, the rapid return to the original pH kills fish.
Reply:You are not interested in breeding, your water seems ok for the fish you are choosing to add, from my experience and readings as far as your water is within the accepted ranges do not play it chemically, adopt your fish to your water not the opposite. Try dry (Fishless) cycling add plants before fish, stock gradually.

Wish you good luck
Reply:Your argentine swords will need lower pH levels.

http://www.fishlore.com/Plants-Argentine... The

wisteria is hardy and should do well.

Below is a link to an excellent read for beginner aquarists.

http://www.fishlore.com/FishFAQs.htm

--------------------------------------...

There are many kinds of Tetras, which are you thinking of?

http://www.fishlore.com/profiles-characi... Tetras

http://www.fishlore.com/profiles_bleedin... (PH 6 - 7) http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-SerpaeT... (PH 5-7.8)

http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-Platy.h... (PH 7-8)

http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-ZebraDa... (PH 6.5 - 8)

http://www.fishlore.com/Profiles-Corydor... (PH 6-8)

The fish you are considering should do well as far as PH. To lower it I use a product called PH 7. I like it because it doesn't fluctuate an hour after you put it in. Many of the products made to lower the pH are not stable and tend to fluctuate a while after it is added.

Make sure that they do well combined with the tetra's you decide on too.
Reply:This is going to sound dumb but what kind of gravel do you have? Believe it or not certain types of gravel will keep your ph from increasing or increase it too much.

The property of water to resist changes in pH is known as buffering capacity. You can determine the capacity of your buffering system by measuring total hardness. A reading of 4-6 dH or higher is usually adequate to keep the buffering system in place and maintain a stable pH. A reading under 4 dH means there isn't enough of a buffering system and the pH is likely to drop. For higher pH levels, you will probably want to aim for 6-12 dH. Many hobbyists choose to measure only Carbonate Hardness (KH), which is a measure of the calcium carbonates in your water. This test is also effective in maintaining a proper buffer system. When testing for Carbonate Hardness, a reading of 75-100 mg/L is adequate for most aquariums, while a reading of 100-200 mg/L would be desired for higher pH levels. For the purpose of freshwater aquariums, measuring either total hardness or carbonate hardness is necessary, but measuring both independently would not be needed.

You need to know that anywhere in your aquarium where detritus (a fancy term for dirt) accumulates is a source of Phosphate production. As detritus accumulates in your gravel bed and on your filter pads, the Phosphate levels in your aquarium rise. Free Phosphate ions may bond with calcareous buffering material, precipitating calcium from your aquarium, and reducing your aquariums ability to keep pH stable. This is why it is so very important to clean your filter pads regularly and vacuum the aquarium gravel with each water change. In addition, your tap water contains buffering ions. Doing regular partial water changes will help to replenish the buffers which have been lost. This is important in all aquariums, because fish respiration and organic wastes alone will cause a gradual drop in the ability of your aquarium to buffer against pH swings.

Now the question becomes what to do if the fish you want to keep have very special pH requirements. If your fish prefer a pH level which is reasonably close to the pH your aquarium water is naturally buffered to, then I do not recommend you make any changes at all. Unless you are keeping an extremely specialized fish your fish will be fine. On the other hand, if your fish have pH requirements which are far from the values in your tank, then you have work to do.

Let us consider methods of raising the pH of your tap water. There are many additives on the market today which claim to raise your pH. Most of the liquid products on the market today are a 50/50 success at best when used alone only to find the ph will soon return to the normal level of 6. You also need to use a product to increase the buffering ability of your aquarium. To maintain a stable pH in the upper levels of the pH scale for fishkeeping, I would recommend using a buffering substrate such as crushed coral. You can add crushed coral to your existing aquarium. You can place larger amounts of shells or chrushed coral beneath the substraight in the tank. I personally place the crushed coral in a mesh bag and place the bag in my filter. You will want about 1 kg of crushed coral per 40 liters of water to buffer the water to hold a pH around 7.6. This method does not allow for the use of large quantities of crushed coral, but can be effective if you only need to make small adjustments to your aquariums buffering ability. This is why ocean items such as shells and ocean sand should not be used in a fresh water aquarium. It does raise the PH level.

Be assured that attempting to control pH is the most frustrating experience for a fish hobbyist. I would guess that 50% of the problems encountered in new aquariums are a result of the aquarist attempting to change the pH level. Few fish keepers actually need to adjust their pH. For the majority of aquarists your tap water pH will be adequate. The dangers of adjusting the pH incorrectly far outweigh any benefit you may receive by moving your pH a few points on the scale.

Remember, when it comes to adjusting your pH, less is more! Stability is most important. Routine maintenance is the key to keeping your pH stable and your fish healthy!

Also, do not use baking soda in your tank. Over doing the ph plus adding additional salt is not going to do your tank any good. It will also revert back to 6 when the carbon filters pull the Soda out. Check the label on your plant food. This could be the problem as well.

Hope this helps

Also, you have quite a few fish in this tank and it isn't even cycled.

Color Suggestions?

My first Yahoo answers question. I have no idea what my wedding colors should be. I don't have any sort of vision when it comes to what my color scheme will be and I have to say I dont have a very good eye for what coordinates.

The wedding will be outdoors late afternoon in June in an arboretum, lots of green trees and grass, pastel spring wildfowers, wisteria especially, light grey , and moss covered stone columns and structues. The ballroom at this location is all white walls ceiling white crown moldings, hardwood floor and deep burgandy drapes. When the reception is in full swing it will be evening.

I m not trying to match the ball room, but the drapes cant be changed, I like blue but began to visualize the white room, deep red drapes, and blue bridesmaids and table cloths and a flag jumped to mind. I am afraid deep colors will look out of place in the spring mix of the arboretum. Can anyone think of a color palette that will look just as nice in these two extremes.

Thanks.

Color Suggestions?
It sounds like you and I are getting married at the same location! lol

Personally, I'm trying not to have any specific colours. They will be filling the auditorium with as much greenery/plants as possible. Then we are doing a black and white theme for the tables with a bright bouquet of flowers as the centerpiece. The high contrast of black, white and bright colours of orange, pink and yellow has a higher "energy" than a muted palette. My dress is silver and my bridesmaids will wear white, so any details will be in silver.

Obviously you don't have to use the same colours, but my advice is to use high contrast colours against a green background, otherwise your colours might looked washed out. Bright yellow and purple....bright pink and black and white... as long as you don't drown the place in too much of the same colour it will look great.

Good luck!

edit: Now that I've seen your pics....definitely stay away from pastels!! That room is too majestic for frothy colours. Deep royal purple/violet/ grape would look great and bring out the richness of the room, and it is still a summery colour. Centerpieces of bright pink and deep purple might look nice....And I would include as much greenery as you can to tie the two locations together :D
Reply:Light sage and chocolate brown

You would be surprised how beautiful and earthy they look together, perfect for outdoors or an arboretum. They are very trendy right now too, you should be able to find lots of coordinating decorations and stationary items.

These were the colors for my daughter in law last summer, and it was very striking and beautiful. We even served a cucumber/lime punch with chocolate cake, that matched the color scheme! Key lime and chocolate pie at the rehearsal dinner. You can really go as far as you want with those 2 colors.

Add in some ivory or white accents.
Reply:Burgandy goes great with deep greens and blues, however if you go with deep colors like that you will have a color scheme of winter. I personally always loved light shades of lavander and yellow together for spring/summer weddings. If you want something that won't clash with the drapes but still goes with the theme and month then anything in light shades of tan, ivory, or cream will work perfectly...especially if you gave the bridesmaids an old style, lace type dress instead of the now typical dresses most wear.
Reply:Try pink and chocolate or pink and gold, A soft pink will go well with the burgendy drapes and will be perfect for a June Wedding! it will also match with all the outdoor colors nicely too. ( No hot pink or bubble gum pink) Something beautiful and subtle!!
Reply:I would think pink or possibly gold would be great colors. Staying in the pinks and reds, however, would be really great. You could have two different feelings for the ceremony and reception. The ceremony could be in lighter to medium pinks and the reception could be more formal feeling, with darker pinks and burgundy. So gorgeous!
Reply:You could go with pastels of pink, peach, yellow, mint, blue OR have the guys in dark blue or black, and the girls in light blue or a dusky blue
Reply:THe drapes are a problem. Burgundy clashes with green and pastels. THat limits your choices. My first thought was ivory and light beige, light shades work better in summer. Blue crossed my mind too, until you mentioned the drapes. NO shade of blue works with burgundy. THERE is one other option - royal purple. If it's the right shade of purple, it will blend with the drapes and match everything else just fine.
Reply:Whatever you'd like it to be! But my suggestion would be like a blueish greenish colors since your doing it outside. But since your getting married ask your feonce (fee on say) (or however you spell it) what colors he'd like. Hope I could help!

Hav a great wedding! :)
Reply:white and baby blue or white and orange or white and purpl or or or even white and green
Reply:Pink might be ok with the deep burgundy.
Reply:I love Hydrangea, the blues and purples and a mossy green together. They won't clash with the drapes either.

Reply:What about cream and dusty rose the burgundy color on the curtains can be the start of your accent color.
Reply:It will be voilet and sexy lavender!
Reply:white and pink
Reply:Check out the knot. They have all sorts of color schemes.

This one is green, which would look amazing in your garden setting, and would also look good in the ballroom. (Keep in mind, though, most of your pics will be in the garden.)

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

I think brown is also very chic and would look good in both locations.

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

You could also stick with mostly white and add colors that would be very natural (like the garden).

http://weddings.theknot.com/ODB/themes/r...

Congratulations!
Reply:Black with a bold pink will work. Also, a brown and pink combination will work as well. Blue will contrast.....but as you already know, pink does tend to work with darn near everything nowadays.
Reply:Our reception site was burgundy and we did navy blue and silver. The table clothes were white and the napkins were navy blue. It looked gorgeous. Remember the lights will be down so you won't notice the burgundy as much as you think you will. I wouldn't pick colors to blend in with the arboretum because then the wedding party will blend in to the background. You want something that will compliment but not blend in. I would stay away from pastels and go with something a little deeper in color.

Will the tank be overstocked?

Right now I have 2 cory cats, 1 female betta, and 1 kuhlii loach, and 2 mystery snails in a 20 gallon. I was going to get 1 dwarf gourmis, 2 more loaches, 2 cherry barbs, and some ghost shrimp. The filter I have is made for 50 gal (it causes a current, but the fish don't seem to mind) and I have 2 java ferns and 2 wisteria plants. Is that enough filtration to support it or would there still be too much fish?

Will the tank be overstocked?
Your stocking levels are not too high, and you have room to work with. I highly recomend getting more of what you ahve instead of more species.

Betta and Gourami: Be very careful and keep an eye on things. Both are territorial, and they will often fight. Your betta being female helps, but is no guarantee - they can be aggressive too. Better to choose one or the other.

Cory cats: Get yourself more of them! They do best, look best, and are most active in groups. I would aim at a group of 4 to 6 of thse guys.

Cherry barbs: Very active fish, and also a great scholing ifhs. Increase this group to 4-6 as well and you'll get that much more out of them.

Ghost shrimp: These guys are so light on the bioload you can safely go ahead and add several without issues.

With these increases your tank will be nicely stocked and not overstocked, and is probably where you want to be as far as limits are concerned.
Reply:As long as you do regualar maitenence on you tank it will be fine. At the fish store i worked at, which is one of the biggest retail and wholesale suppliers in the NY, PA area, all thier community tanks are 10 gallon setups with WAY too many fish. Keep in mind they do water changes every day and treat any infected tanks as needed. These fish are also sold quite quickly. They also have a guarantee on their fish for 7 days, provided that you bring back the dead fish and a water sample.
Reply:that will be fine there shouldnt be any aggresive behavior or territorial behavior great idea with the filter i use 2 20 gal filters with my 20 gal tank
Reply:You are fine with that stocking scheme but be careful with keeping the betta and the gourmis you may get some aggression there. Also barbs tend to do best in schools of 6 or more so I would recommend upping your cherry barbs from 2 to 6.

Edit:: your stocking level will still be fine with the extra cherry barbs. With the Betta and Gourmis the aggression could go either way. They will probably be fine it is just something to watch out for the first few days after you introduce the Gourmis.
Reply:The problem I see isn't in overstocking. Introducing a gouramis into a tank with a female betta could give you some issues. I would recommend getting 2 more female bettas if you have your heart set on adding the dwarf gourami. I would get a male gourami and make sure I had LOTS of hiding places. I'd also introduce the gourami away from the betta. Have a tank divider handy for when you need to separate the fish due to any aggression issues.

GOOD LUCK
Reply:You should be just fine with those, just watch out for aggressive behavior and do water changes every week religiously.

What's the best way to shade a west facing window from the outside?

of the house? I would like to put up an arbor in front of the window and grow wisteria or jasmine over it. My husband is talking about a tree, but the house next door is only 15 feet away. What type of tree would be shady, but not take over the area. We had a bamboo shade there once, but the weather beat it up and it wan't very attractive. This is the front yard. I live in 80 - 100+ degree weather in the summer and this window is a corner window of the computer/guest bedroom.

What's the best way to shade a west facing window from the outside?
Plant a burkwood viburnum. Be sure to plant it a few feet away from the wall, and you will have to prune it. It can take the heat and it is quite dense. The flowers smell lovely.
Reply:If you want to grow Wisteria over an Arbor--make sure it is real strudy, cause the vines get really heavy, but I love the Idea

Wisteria are so beautiful.
Reply:Maybe get that "window tint" on that window. I am sure that would help a lot. Plus grow a shrub or tree, whatever you and hubby can agree with.

Who is going to die on Desperate Housewives in the next espidode?

On one of the interviews with the cast, Mike Delphino said that he cant say much but he can say that a main character(s) is gonna die in the first 9 episodes.

The first hour airs Sunday, with a cliffhanger ending (Who died? Who lived?) that won't be resolved anytime soon: The following episode is completed but has yet to be scheduled.

On “Housewives'’ (9 p.m., ABC), a tornado rips through Wisteria Lane, making a mess of those neatly kept suburban homes. It also takes out two regular characters, although I wouldn’t worry too much about Bree and the rest of the major housewives. And, yeah, this is tornado that popped up in promos for LAST week’s episode — a real case of bait and switch from the ABC promo department.

Who is going to die on Desperate Housewives in the next espidode?
in the beginning mary alice said that " sadly that was not the case. in four short hours one of these women will loose a husband. and all of them will loose a friend".

so there are 3 or 4 deaths:

Husband - Victor Lang

Friend - Ida Greenberg (old lady with the cat)

3rd Person - Sylvia (the stalker, got pulled into tornado)

4th (possibly not. but most likely looking at the destruction cause) - Toby (the cat owned by Ida)
Reply:Well obivously gabrielles husband dies because he was stabed. and that crazy girl that got thrown up with the tornado. and i think one of the scavos die.
Reply:ohkayy first of all; I'm a total desparate housies fann so i'm in suspence too, TRUST ME

but if someone DOES die on the next episode, I would think that it isn't going to be one of the housewives

but it couldd be

victor - edi - carlos - possibly the gay guys? hehe kidding
Reply:I don't know but I hope Edie and what's his name Gabbie's new husband die.
Reply:For some reason I think it is going to be Gabby.
Reply:Victor Lang died.

Cecilia (the crazy lady who is obsessed with the doctor)

and i heard that Ida the lady with the cat will die.

When do Hummingbird vines bloom?

I have a 3 yr old hummingbird vine grown in a pot from seed and have never gotten blooms on it.

I always feed my plants with some kind of fertilizer whether osmicote 3-month feed, rose food, or sam's choice plain old plant food.

The thing grows like mad - I keep it trimmed weekly because I'm wanting to bonsai it eventually (need the thick trunk).

Does it bloom on new wood or old wood?

Or is it like a dogwood or wisteria and not bloom for its first few years?

When do Hummingbird vines bloom?
Hummingbird vine (Campsis radicans) blooms in summer-fall on new wood. So, that is perhaps the problem - you may be pruning all the new growth off and ending up without any flowers.

This plant is quite a monster - so keep on top of it so it doesn't get out of hand. You can do a hard prune in late spring to get the dead wood out of it and then let it go if you want blooms.

Desperate Housewives?

Does anyone know a good website or blog that has really up to date summaries of each episode? I've lost track of the series and i'd like to read through what happened in some of the episodes so that i can pick it up again!

Or if someone could sum it up for me - I missed the episode where Danielle has her baby... who is the actual father? Does Bree get away with pretending that it is her baby?

Has the secret surrounding the new family that moved back in been revealed yet? Who is Catherine and why does her daughter not remember any of her childhood on Wisteria Lane? What secret did the old lady write on a piece of paper before she passed away?

And what happened on the boat with Gabrielle's husband the mayor? I saw the episode where he is lying in hospital and he grabs Gabrielle and tells her that he remembers everything that happened...

I am not sure what the secret is concerning catherine and her daughter though. Victor servives the boat when carlos nocks him off. But Victor sadly dies afterwards during the hurricane when he gets hit by a bord. now gabrielle is with carlos but he is blind now. Susan is of course pregnant and mike is now in Rehab.

What do you think will happen next on Desperate Housewives?

What will happen when it comes back on in April?

and please don't look for spoilers then tell me I just want to see what you think will happen. And what will have changed on Wisteria Lane?

And do you think Susan will have the baby?? or what will happen with that story line?

Dose any one else think that Marc Cherry will kill one of the kids or teens off?

What do you think will happen next on Desperate Housewives?
I sure hope that Susan and Mike have the baby! I think he will get his act together now that susan has stood up for herself!

I think Gabby will take care of Carlos.

I am curious to see what happens with Bree and Danielle and the new baby. ( I dont think any of the kids will be killed, but if it was, i'd defiantly pick that brat Danielle! Lol, or maybe even Tom's love child, I forgot her name!)

I think Rick is going to be brought back in as well which is going to cause a lot of drama in the Scavo house.
Reply:ithink mike and susan will have there baby. and daanelle will come back and realize she made huge mistake and she wants her baby. and gaby will find out about carlos being blind and still want 2 be with him. idont think none of the teens will be killed. and brees husband will kill again orsen did try 2 kill mike.
Reply:I hope Susan and Mike get their act together and have their baby, I love them together, so cute. I think Gaby is achanged person and if Carlos would just tell her what is going on she would do anything to help. I don't think any of the kids will get killed,.
Reply:I think Gaby will leave Carlos because he is blind and can't enjoy her sexiness anymore. is just a thought :p
Reply:I think Susan and Mike will definetly have their baby. Who knows maybe some drama with Julie as well.

I think Edie will expose Gabby and Carlos and all hell will break loose with Victor.

I wonder will Bree continue to get away with the whole fake pregnancy thing. It will be funny viewing.

I really really hope Lynette will get better as her and Tom are my favorite couple they seem the most normal!

Need great ideas for a Japanese type garden?

I have created a new area in my back yard and plan on putting a large Asian statue in the center of this area. I am working on an area behind where the statue will sit to plant bamboo in a controlled area. I am fixing a sort of tunnel and plan to put wisteria on it, to grow over the wire tunnel. I would like ideas on other plants to use in this area to enhance the statue and give an air or serenity. This will be a sort of *secret* garden, as you won't be able to see it all until you go through the tunnel.

I have thought about some peonies, and plan to use white gravel and have black enamel benches in it. I would like to use reds mostly, to give more impact to the overall effect.

I am in zone 6

Need great ideas for a Japanese type garden?
Azaleas would be nice. For a low growing tree that has that Asian look is the Mimosa. Most Asian Garden don't have alot of flowers in them, they are mostly evergreens is interesting shapes. For your "RED" how about placing high glazed red pots filled with small evergreens that you shape into your own style of Bonzais.
Reply:Nandina, called heavenly bamboo--the "domestica" variety has red berries...also, japanese plum yew...you can also plant Daylillies (Hemerocallis) in a grouping--"Chicago Apache" is a good red variety.

Have you considered a water feature, a small pond or fountain--for sound as well as a serene effect? Aqua Bella online is a site you might look at for ideas.
Reply:might be some help here...

http://images.google.com/images?q=Japane...

a great Japanese style garden looks great in all seasons... so be careful about the look of what you plant for when it's winter.... like, the peony will disappear in winter, so what will be in that spot then?.... will something behind it take it's place?... like an archetectural yucca or some red-twigged dogwood?....plan for the whole year for the best effect.... like the trees... they should be shapely evergreens or deciduous ones with either interesting shapes like 'weeping' or gnarly trunks or peeling bark.... the gravel, benches and arbor will hold up thru the winter just fine....the wisteria vines will be interesting, too.... but the bamboo should be chosen wisely.. there are types that are 'clumping' bamboos that don't need to be contained... look for them and save yourself some aggravation and work....

Do rusting nails affect the water quality in a freshwater fish aquarium?

Is it toxic to fish? I use a nail with a twist-tie on each clipping of my live Water Wisteria plants. It's to hold them to the bottom of the tank. Then they grow roots and flourish!

Do rusting nails affect the water quality in a freshwater fish aquarium?
They are aren't necessarily toxic, but they do exude mineral/chemical compounds into the water. Depending on the size of you tank you should be okay....unless you have a very small tank and you don't change the water frequently.
Reply:Rinse the nails first, to remove any loose rust. The rusting action is just oxidization and is very slow. The iron is not going to dissolve in the water over night. There is very little iron being intruduced at any given moment. A water changing once a month should maintain the quality of water and is recommended for the sanitation of the fish, regardless. But why rusty nails?
Reply:you should never place any metal in a tank. over time it will erode and kill your fish.why dont you go buy some plastic zip ties (that you use to organize cords behind a tv) or use fishing line instead? or weigh the plants down with gravel or a rock until it takes root?

the only person that matters here is you. if you decide to settle down somewhere else away from you "family" then do so. you are the only that can decide that . as for your parents once you are settle you could always arrange it to have them come over or visit. it is up to them to move on also. they chose their own paths and no it's your turn.

What kind of plants or flowers can I plant to attract hummingbirds in North West Ohio?

Thank You all so much for the information! I do have the wisteria, clematis and the trumpet vine! Have just started the bee balm from seed so I have to wait a while. I have never heard of the cigar bush though, will have to try that one and see what results I get.

Is 2 lbs of gravel per gallon the minimum for growing aquatic plants?

I'm planning on setting up a 15 gallon freshwater tank with small rotala, dwarf hygro, black amazon sword, twisted val, needle sag and dwarf sag maybe some water wisteria, water sprite and anubias and crypts.

Also, Can I get a few plants to start and add more later?

I also plan on stocking with about 5 or 6 neon tetras and 3 or 4 longfin leopard danios.

Is 2 lbs of gravel per gallon the minimum for growing aquatic plants?
Awsome bud good luck!!!

Its more about depth of the gravel 3-4 inches is good versus 1-2. Gravel size matters as well. You want the water to be able to flow threw the gravel to delivery nutrients.

That tank is small enough that getting a bag of florite won't cost that much and your plants will love it. I mean really love it.

remembr plants are all about balance. If Light, CO2, Substrate and fertilizers are all in the balance the tank will take off nice. If one is out..weak plants lots of aglea.

If your really really serious about the plants don't mess with gravel and get a serious iron rich substrate. Remeber you won't be vacuuming it.

You can get grasses and other cool stuff aswell. Get 2 otto cats and one amano shrimp to start. They will happily munch all the algea in the tank. Get more as you need them. They can make a tank look amazing and very very clean.

I would recommend a hagen life-glo 2 bulb aswell and a CO2 reactor you can make at home.

get everything in balance and you will be good

heres a sight for a reactor and some stunning tanks.

http://www.aquatic-eden.com/2006/10/buil...

Good luck!!!!
Reply:I think that the depth is more important than the weight per gallon. It will differ depending on how tall your tank is.

Here's a great website for you to check out:

http://www.plantedtank.net/

Check out ways of getting CO2 in your tank because that makes all the difference in a planted tank.
Reply:well weight isn't really th issue, it'd depth...

if this is a 15long then you'll need more sand than in a 15 tall.

you'd want about 2-3'' of gravel in the tank.

with a general wieght gravel that usually comes out ot about 20#'s

also bags are usually sold in 5, 10, and 20 pound bags... (larger but those are unimportant now)

yes you can add plants later, the ones you've picked out sound good. but the sword may eventually dominate the tank...

the stocking sounds ok... not great but ok...

Which perfume brand does not cause respiratory allergies (sneezing, headaches, rhinitis) Thanks.?

I've been shopping for perfume/fragrances lately. I realize I don't like strong smelling perfume. I prefer oil-based perfume as they do not have much alcohol content. I'm not fond of fruity scent (to me they smell like washroom/toilet, no offense meant). My choices for now are Burberry, Cool Water, Lily of the Valley %26amp; Wisteria (by Crabtree). I don't know which else. I'm tired of using Cool Water. Can anyone recommend something that will not cause allergies. I tried White Linen by Estee Lauder... my throat and nasal passages and ears were itchy the whole night... that's when I realized I may be allergic to one of its components.

Which perfume brand does not cause respiratory allergies (sneezing, headaches, rhinitis) Thanks.?
It is not the perfume but the composition it is made of causes the allergy.
Reply:If you are that sensitive I would stick to the natural products you can find that are based almost solely on essential oils. Try going to a local natural market and see what they have to offer. These days the health and beauty sections in those stores have a really great selection. Maybe stick to a single scent like rosewater. These won't necessarily last as long as the kind you are used to but they will be much healthier for you in the long run.

White acacia tree...?

This was a very nice dream... so... i was at home, in bed, but my room had no roof. Instead, i could see the sky, through the branches of a huge blooming white acacia tree. It was very early in the morning, the sky was baby blue, with no clouds, and it was very quiet. It looked like the tree was hugging the house, sort of like it was really a tree house. And the tree was full of flowers, and they were all white, and they smelled so sweet. And there were bees looking for polen, and other bugs playing on the leaves. It was just so beautiful. What does it mean?

By white acacia tree i mean a huge tree who's flowers look like wisteria flowers, just as big, only white.

White acacia tree...?
Acacia trees are symbolic of immortality and resurrection, and their flowers are symbolic of love and the bigger they are, the more of those things they symbolize (big blossoms= lots of love!). The fact that the tree seemed to be hugging your house means that love and longevity are bountiful in your home. The bugs represent different, smaller aspects of life, that you described them as playing means that your home life either is or is soon going to be very happy.

This dreams is simply meant to put your mind at ease, to let you know that all these good things are already a part of your life and that everything is all right. Hope this helps!
Reply:Wow... that's a really positive dream. It's a very life encompassing dream that I could barely scratch the surface on, but it would seem you've found your heart's desire. It seems you know yourself very well, know what you want, and know how to get it. And in most, if not all, cases you already have what you were looking for.

GOD I hope I have a dream like his someday! ;)

thank you thank you thank you I am so glad you posted this
Reply:OMG thank you 4 this I was freaking out about this

Who is ur fav character in Desp Housewives and Why?

Wisteria Lane is cooking up with way more mischievous issues. I really wonder which characters managed to find his/her way into the heart of audience. We have Susan Meyer, Bree Vandekamp, Lynette, Gabrielle, Edie.

Btw, I personally opt for Bree. Alwayz has been my favourite.

A strong woman in the heart. With believes as tough as rock.A never-give-up attitude especially when it comes to someone which she considered her life-her two children.

However, she gotta learn how to let loose abit. lolz. She was doing realy fine till the balancing factor in her family passed away-Rex. Still, she pulled the strings to hold her family in position. Guess, she tries too hard.... Sigh...

In addition, lady with elegance...

Who is ur fav character in Desp Housewives and Why?
Gabby is my favorite too. I like her attitude and how she won't put up with anything. She's very fiesty. I think I like her the best because she's the one I can relate to the most.
Reply:All the characters have their own endearing qualities or else we wouldn't be tuning in every week...but my favorite character is Susan...she is such a knucklehead!!! *OMG* I love her!
Reply:I like gabby because she has the best clothes and she does what she wants.

Wisteria Cuttings?

I am growing some Wisteria from seed, and I know that they will not bloom for years, but I wish to know that if I take cuttings from these particular plants, will the cuttings take years to bloom also?

Wisteria Cuttings?
Wisteria is one of the easiest things in the world to grow! Take a decent size branch off your plant, make a slit in the bottom and stick it in the ground or in potting soil. If your plants are in the ground, check around them, there may already be new plants coming up! The cuttings should bloom quickly!
Reply:It depends on the variety of wisteria you have planted, but cuttings from an already blooming wisteria should bloom within a year or two. A new one grown from seed can take as long as 15 years before it starts blooming. Take the largest cutting you can, because you'll have faster blooms that way. Also, pruning after it blooms will encourage more blooms that same year. You'll get an explosion of color for about 2 weeks - typical for wisterias. Afterwards, some light pruning can lead to a few splashes of color until it goes dormant. This also helps keep the plant from taking over. It can grow 15 feet a year!
Reply:The cuttings will begin to bloom the year after rooting them. The reason for this is that you will have cloned a mother plant that was already producing flower buds. Most greenhouses use cuttings for this very reason.

Some annuals can be cloned in a few days to a few weeks and will begin to bloom immediately.
Reply:Yes,
Reply:ok if you have a blooming wisteria it has been budded and the cutting will bloom before the ones that come up from seed which will only be seedlings and will have to be budded i work in a nursery in tennessee
Reply:It will take a couple of years for the cuttings to bloom unless the cutting is a large one (3 feet or more) Since an established plant costs about 8 dollars, why not get one you can enjoy now? Have a great spring.

Who wants spoilers for Desperate Housewives new season??

Thanks to KibbleKBibble for these spoilers

Season 5 spoilers

As revealed in the spoilers for the season finale, next season takes us FIVE years into the future and stays there. Lynette's kids will be either written out or recast, while Mrs. McCluskey's hard of hearing. Bree's well on her way to becoming the next Martha Stewart. Carlos remains blind. Katherine is still living on Wisteria Lane. Edie returns to Wisteria Lane, having also gone through significant change as well. Susan has a new man, played by Gale Harold.

Gone from the show: Julie, Danielle, Dylan, and the actors playing Lynette's kids. Lynette's kids will be recast for season 5 and will be juvenile delinquents; the kids who've played them til now may or may not be back for a few flashbacks next season. Mike may or may not be back. (This was also said of Mike after season 1 and season 2, so who knows what's really happening.)

Say hello to Kaila Say and Danielle Baltodano, who are playing Gabrielle's daughters Juanita and Celia. Gabrielle will be frustrated her kids don't live up to her standards of beauty. (Gabrielle's hardly living up to her own standards of beauty either!)

The show has been picked up for next season. There will be 24 episodes!

Other spoilers

As Marc Cherry's been saying since November of 2004, he plans on ending the show with season 7. After that, he hopes to follow up with a spin-off entitled Vicious Cheerleaders. (Please, make that happen!! I've been itching for more on the show since he first mentioned it 2 years ago.)

DH creator Marc Cherry is considering setting the seventh and final season in the year BEFORE DH began, when Mary Alice and Mrs. Huber, among others, still lived on Wisteria Lane.

Where's Desperate Houswives???

OMg i am soooo mad!!!!

is desperate housewives gone because of the writer's strike????

omg they picked the PERFECT time to stop airing it!!!!

urgggg it was gonna be a life changing episode for the residents of wisteria lane!!!!!!

ugh any answers on where it is??!?!?!!?

Where's Desperate Houswives???
Next episode "Welcome to Kanagawa", will be aired on January 6, 2008. Plot Summary: With Mrs. McCluskey's house completely destroyed, Lynette faces the prospect that her family may be gone. Katherine learns that someone knows something about her past. The neighborhood begins to rebuild both physically and mentally.

There's an episode "The Devastating After Math" will be aired on January 13, 2008. Plot Summary: Lynette has to live with the fact that her family is gone forever. Gabrielle finds out about Carlos' condition. Bree drops baby Ben on a table, which leads to a severe condition. Susan visits Mike at rehab, and finds out a horrific secret. Edie finds out she is pregnant. The death of the kids and Tom leads to much horror and danger to Lynette. She tries to take her own life.
Reply:I saw a commercial a few days ago that said new episodes coming January 8...or something like that. It didn't show a preview. And from my understanding, there was only a couple of shows left already taped. This strike bites!
Reply:Gone because of the strike...along with a lot of other good dramas.....maybe we'll all lose interest and stop watching when it does come back...
Reply:its because of the strike
Reply:I know what you mean!! I hate the cliff hangers when you get into a show and they stop it like that !! UGH! And now that the WGA writers strike is on, you just don't know when you're going to get new episodes if at all. It's all so frustrating!

Bean-like Seed... Help to identify...?

Hi... I've just got 3 bean like seeds... less than 2cm tall, around 1cm wide and 0.5cm thick... It is shaped just like a big bean but is thinner... With a shiny black coat and wild white stripes... It is said to have showy flowers... Any suggestion or Scientific names?...

...

Hm... Very close to caster bean... But I'm pretty sure its a Fabaceus plant not an Euphorbiaceus one!... It was not wisteria (those are all black) nor scarlet runner bean (black with pink stripes)...

Bean-like Seed... Help to identify...?
Check the link for various bean seeds ... the skunk bean fits your general description but it is apparently quite rare.

The only other black seed with white stripes that I can think of is the sunflower seed ...
Reply:Hyacinth bean has black and white stripes, but I believe is smaller.

I like black men?

Imma hispanic/white girl that loves her some sexy thuggish black men is that wrong.....because theres alot of interracial relationships going on but I want your guyz opinions..

Thanks,Ya gurl Wisteria

I like black men?
What ever rocks your boat is completely up to you, girl.

If you knew half the sh*t people on here were into.....
Reply:That's your preference, but be careful. "Thuggish black men" sometimes get shot at. And the shooters are not always good marksmen. As you go through life, consider the company you keep--they will enrich your life or detract from it
Reply:Just date the one that treats and makes you feel good.
Reply:There is nothinng at all wrong with that you dont have to date in your race. Like you said yourself there is a lot of interracial realtionships
Reply:It's all 'bout what ur heart desire
Reply:No Ma, it's not wrong. However, if you are close to your family, you may want take their feelings (whether pro or anti-interracial into account). You're an individual and have the right to date whomever you want. However, it would be wrong to date a Brother and bring him home to a hostile reaction (unless he doesn't care whether your family is prejudiced). Some of us Brothers dig women of other races so much that we don't care if their families are prejudiced. On the other hand, some of us Brothers think "Wait, if I get her pregnant and her family is prejudiced, then my son/daughther will have relatives that dislike him/her based on race). Good luck, Ma!
Reply:why would you want a thug headed to jail or worse? there are nice Black men out there who are going places, while youre getting patted down to go see your man in the penitentiary.
Reply:Whatever floats your boat...it's totally fine...don't care what other people think...as long as you are happy that's all that matters...
Reply:thats nice, black man/ white man I don't care. its the thugish part I'm concerned about... whats wrong with you girl?? you looking to act out but too afraid to do it on your own? or are you hopeing to intimidate someone with your big black thug of a boyfriend saying " you better not touch me or I'll sick my boyfriend on you" like the sopranos said ...yo get a rottweiller and forget about it.
Reply:Why would it be wrong? Also, why is it in the LGBT section?
Reply:Nothing wrong with a little thugh lovin'. Some of the most beautiful people in the world are interracial.

Ultimately though the choice is yours and no-one else's.
Reply:who cares

Desperate Housewives?

Hi! The fourth season started in Germany and Dylan and her Mum moved to Wisteria Lane. Can you tell me what happens next? Whats the secret about Dylan?

Desperate Housewives?
the secret has something to do with Dylans real father but we still don't know what it is yet. Katherine is making everyone believe that he sexually abused her just so it will be to awkward for them to ask anymore questions.
Reply:Wirf den TV an, gerade läuft auf Pro 7 eine Folge dazu.

80 is a big deal in our family since most of the family has passed on in thier 50s , 60s or 70s ,she was born %26amp; raised in Ga. %26amp; she loves her flowers %26amp; the color purple or lavender so i was thinking of a wisteria %26amp; lace theme with the colors lavender %26amp; green with lace table clothes, any ideas or web sights to check out for ideas would be so helpfull , the food will be catered to make it easyer on my sister %26amp; i, she has out lived all her sisters, my father %26amp; 2 sons so we want this to be very special since her health is failing %26amp; we dont know how much longer she will be with us, p.s. she allso has alzihmers so her memory is`nt real sharp any more ,but stuff like this seems to stay with her longer then other stuff.the party is in july %26amp; will be in a rented hall since no one has a house big enough to hold it at ,so there goes a big part of our budget since we are retired %26amp; live on a limited budget our selfs. THANKS

My moms 80th b-day we`re planning a big surprise party for her but i need help with the theme,?
tell her happy b day
Reply:Hi, my grandmother is 81 and I work with the elderly. One thing they all seem to have in common is a love of old radio shows. Like Burns %26amp; Allen, Fibber McGee and Molly. Maybe have an old radio set up and buy the CDs, Borders carries them. Good Luck and Congratulations to your Mom!!
Reply:congrats your almost dead
Reply:Well if your thinking of a party theme you should ask what she likes from back then and see what style you come up wit trust me any theme you come up wit will be fine wit her cause she loves you no matta wat theme! GOOD LUCK

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:First of all that is a aw- some idea, "thumbs up to yous" If you can find pictures, and photo copy them put them on bristle board when she was younger and growing up I believe she will enjoy looking at them as well as others, and to me the things she enjoyed is the best thing any one can give. Remember you have all the things she would want and like. I don't think you need to do any more, because yous already have. Good Luck and God Bless your mother and family.
Reply:The colors sound wonderful. Maybe use tulle or gauzes dyed in those colors - you can buy these online inexpensively.

Another thing you could do is to find pictures of her life and have some blown up and set them about, or put together a photo album of them (have someone scan and reprint the pictures in case something happens to that album).

I recently did a book for my now passed mother in law - she loved it. I used one of these online book making services when you can scan in the photos, arrange them how you want and they print you a hard bound copy. Get a few copies of the book made, and then if people want them they can have you order more. (they pay for them, of course.)
Reply:Sufferers from alzihmers have a poor short term memory, but still maintain a good memory of people and incidents from years ago. I would say that such an occasion should involve as many members of the family as possible along with some photographs spanning your mothers life on the walls which will provoke discussion and hopefully spark some wonderful memories. let me know what you plan and how it goes.
Reply:I like your decoration ideas, its sounds pretty. I would call all family members and get pictures of her at different times of her life., ie her as a kid, young woman, just married, her kids when they were young, grandkids etc. and make either a slide show or a power point presentation out of all the pictures, and show it for entertainment for the whole party. it would be a great tribute to her life.
Reply:well my step-mom is the catere for maccroni grill and maby she can help and the them sems grate and i would try to find a cheep but realy cool place. make this the best party ever something that no one will ever forget.! :]
